Former Bears probowl receiver and return man Johnny Knox has announced that he?s moving on from the NFL after still reeling from the affects of a gruesome hit he took vs the Seahawks in 2011.
NFL.com reported on the surprising news, as just 14 months removed from the accident Knox has decided to call it a career.
?As an athlete, you don?t want to give up, you want to keep on fighting. That?s how I?ve always been,?
?But it?s been on my heart for a while. I know how my body feels, and I know I?m not going to be the same and perform at the ability that I used to.?
?So I?m moving on and going forward.?
The Bears have since terminated Knox?s contract. But Knox?s agent did previously say that he would try to launch a return to the league. Knox suffered a spinal injury, which had to be fused back in place and resulted in him missing all of the next season.
Knox now walks with a limp and struggles to stand comfortably, despite the arduous rehab stints. Knox is just happy to be alive and not paralyzed and isn?t showing any regrets in his decision
?My whole life, I?ve always been positive, and people ask me, ?Man, why are you so positive??
?But I know things will work out for the best.?
Knox?s second child was born just a few days before the injury which resulted in his truncated career. Let?s wish Knox all the best, as he knows what?s best for his own health.
Keep your head up, young man.
